Facebook has purchased FriendFeed service to make the real-time search competition more interesting. FriendFeed co-founder Bret Taylor said: “Even both companies were talking on this issue from last two years but now this was just a 11 hours deal.”
According to companies agreement all FriendFeed employees will join Facebook and the company’s four founders will be given senior roles on the social networking site’s engineering and product teams. Initially FriendFeed will work as Research & Development department of Facebook.
Twitter is already providing the real-time search facility to users whereas Google works as a regular search engine and Google admits this upper hand of Twitter but now the situation will be changed by the emergence of Facebook and real-time search king FriendFeed.
This acquisition of Facebook definitely creates a challenging situation for existing search giants.
