The iPhone Dev Team has announced that RedSn0w 0.8 could be used to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0.1, new OS which was released by Apple for the fixing of iPhone messaging system vulnerability, whereas UltraSn0w unlocks the iPhone devices with iPhone OS 3.0.1.

iPhone Dev Team also conformed that there is no change in iPhone base-band so the UltraSn0w still works to unlock iPhone 3G, 3GS and also for iPhone OS 3.0.1 version.

iPhone Dev Team said about the jailbreak and unlock iPhone OS 3.0.1:

“You can re-use redsn0w v0.8 we released a few weeks ago to jailbreak today’s 3.0.1 update. Just let iTunes update or restore you to official 3.0.1 then run redsn0w. The only “trick” is that when redsn0w asks you to identify the IPSW used, point it at the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1 one. After the jailbreak, reinstall ultrasn0w 0.9 if you need the unlock.”

So, this is the simple solution provided by iPhone Dev Team for jailbreak and unlock iPhone OS 3.0.1.
