
Apple claimed in the U.S Copyright Office (DMCA) that iPhone jail-breaking constitutes copyright violation. Apple also told them that jailbroken iPhones could cause network’s transmission towers crash and allows to avoid fee charges to use iPhone services of company.
Whereas iphone jailbreaking is very popular activity among iPhone users. By doing this they enable iPhones to use the services of the networks who have not signed distribution deals with Apple on their iPhones.
In return of the Apple claims the U.S. Copyright Office (DMCA) asked Apple how jailbreaking is a violation of copyright? In answer Apple told that according to Copyright control features unapproved apps could not be used on Apple devices and jailbreaking is one of the act which allows the use of illegal apps and lead to major network disruptions and it could be a major security issue.
The U.S Copyright Office is expected to make a decision in the case by the end of year 2009.
