After the two years effort at last Palm Pre was launched on 6th June. The Palm Pre smart phone project of company was included all new things to develop as new device, new operating system and new applications. So, it was obvious to take long time to complete the task to launch a new device in market.
Palm Pre’s app store has just only 30 apps, no mass of apps is there as compare to iPhone’s 50,000 apps store. But this isn’t an issue to compare both devices. Palm is launched on totally new platform with no existing users whereas iPhone is an old device and there are a lot of users who are already using iPhone.
According to Medialets, a NYC-based mobile advertising and analytic firm, Palm’s 30 apps are downloaded about 670,000 times up till now, so average Palm Pre user has 6.7 apps on device which is not a bad ratio for a store just with little quantity of apps .
Now the thing is this as you all know Apple rolled out iPhone OS 3.0 and iPhone 3GS with approximately 100 new additional features and a lot of apps, so is it possible for Palm Pre to be stable in front of iPhone and its huge apps store as a competitor device? Whereas there are a lot of comparisons already been done which shows that Palm Pre is a powerful device because of its technology and functionality. So, now it all depends on the marketing and business strategy of Palm that how they attract the customers towards Palm Pre to capture a big market?
