We all agree that Wi-Fi is a marvelous technology. Microsoft has equipped Windows 7 with virtual WiFi technology, which is a step further to get more advantage of a single Wi-Fi hardware card of PC. This option of new Windows 7 operating system enables to get connect you computer with multiple wireless access points through just one wireless adapter.
This Virtual WiFi (V-Wi-Fi), creates an abstract layer on your WLAN hardware card and convert it in multiple virtual adapters. So, with this feature of Windows 7, now you don’t need more than one WLAN adapter hardware if you want to make your PC hot spot to connect other computers and share wireless connection with them. Virtual Wi-Fi also allows you to connect with multiple wireless networks at the same time.
If you have one WLAN adapter in PC then Windows 7 installs a virtual device for you with Hosted Network. This virtual device displays in the Network Connections Folder as Wireless Network Connection 2 with device name Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapter. This allows the virtual device to be used solely for performing software access point (SoftAP)connections.
Now V-Wi-Fi is going to be a requirement for WLAN drivers sporting the Windows 7 certification logo. So the drivers are coming to be upgraded to provide the compatible support for this feature.
