Microsoft has never been changed the look of command prompt ever since company introduced a lot of versions for their operating systems. Some people who are regularly working on command prompt may became bored with its same black interface. So, here is a tiny application Glass CMD which could add transparent look to your Windows command prompt.
This Aero glass transparent effect comes by just download and run .exe file of Glass CMD application, immediately it’ll reside in your system tray. It doesn’t require any further installation. Now, when you’ll open your command prompt it comes with a glassy transparent look. It works with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
It is very simple and free open source application. So, whenever you want to get back your old look of command prompt, simply exit Glass CMD from system tray and that’s it.
Download Glass CMD and Enjoy its transparent look!

Hey there — just an FYI – I’ve got both Vista x86 and x64 and this doesn’t work on either (fully patched). The program runs, but the cmd prompt is just as it alwasys is. Suggestions?

There is a tool, which can make standard Windows’ command prompts transparent.
The ability to make transparent console windows was recently added to Actual Window Manager (as well as Actual Transparent Window).
If you really like the transparent command prompts in Linux and Mac OS, then AWM/ATB is the way to go.

What are the available options for the settings file? For example, can i change the font color, or transparency level? Thanks. Good work.
