As discussed in previous post: “Windows XP SP3 Released to Manufacturers; Downloadable on April 29” that Microsoft has planned to phaseout Windows XP after the end of June. But now, there comes a hope for Windows XP lovers; Steve Ballmer, Microsoft Chief Executive has said that the company may reconsider XP phaseout plan only if they see enough demand for XP from customers.
Ballmer, in a statement, said that “XP will hit an end-of-life. We have announced one. If customer feedback varies we can always wake up smarter but right now we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP shipments.”
“most people who buy PCs today buy them with Vista.” said Ballmer.
“In the business environment, we still have customers who are buying PCs with XP because information technology departments often have to work with old machines.” He added.
So it’s clear that they have scheduled cut-off date for Windows XP supply to retailers but if they see demand for this OS, they may reconsider their decision. However they will keep providing it to low cost laptop makers whom machines are not capable of running Windows Vista as it requires high-speed central processing units.
