Google Adsense Mistakes

Google Adsense, the leader (in my opinion) in web advertising programs, is a great way of earning for website owners. Like all other advertising programs available, Google Adsense has well define Rules and Regulations that are needed to be strictly followed in order to avail this great opportunity to earn online and Google Adsense never compromise over these Terms of Service, as for them advertisers’ interest is the most important thing.

Here I would like to share some tips, on the basis of my experience, Google Terms and Conditions and information gather from FAQ at Google Adsense, in order to ensure the adherence with Google Adsense Terms of Service (ToS) so that your account may never be get banned from Google Adsense. Most of these tips would be in your knowledge but for those who don’t know or new to Google Adsense advertising program I would try to explain it in simple manners.

Clicking your own Adsense ads; Don’t even try to do so. Don’t ask anyone to do so

A well known mistake repeated by most of the new publishers. Don’t ever click your own ads or ask anyone to do so. Keep a check on your clicks if someone is trying directly or indirectly affecting Google ads clicks because any fraudulent clicks activity results in direct Ban from Google Adsense program. Don’t start any incentive program or automated clicking programs or software, or you shall be banned from Google Adsense as Google Adsense has a strong click activity monitoring system.

Don’t ever change the Adsense Code

Google Adsense offers many ways to customize color, borders or background of ads as you desire. Always try to pefform changes externally, don’t try to make any change in the code. Any such change is a violation of Adsense ToS and code may also not be working. So why to make changes in coding Mode when you have external ways to make such changes and with less limitations.

Avoid disclosing confidential information

Do not disclose information like CPM, click-through rates (CTR), any income related or any other confidential information revealed to you by Google to anyone else except gross earnings as per the Terms of Service.

Do not set launching a new page for clicked ads

As a Publisher you must assure that Adsense ads open in the same page. Avoid using Base target tag to open Adsense ads links in new windows or frame because Google adsense does not want a new page for Adsense ads so correct in now.

Running competitive contextual text ad services like Adsense on the same site

In the past it was not allowed to run competitive ad services like Adsense on the site which is already publishing ads from Google Adsense. But now Google has allowed to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided that competitors’ ads don’t resemble Adsense ads.

Label Heading: “Advertisements” or “Sponsored Links”

For Google Adsense ads you may use either of the above labels as heading. Any other label may result in a prompt action from Google Adsense So keep it in mind to remain with a long term earning source.
Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

Place only 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 Adsense search boxes on any web page

This is the limit set by Google Adsense and if you try to put ad units exceeding the limit those won’t be displaying, so why not stick to the limit!

Avoid masking ad elements

Hiding relevant components of ads, like URL part by giving it the same color that of background, is not allowed. Though it’s a good idea to hide ads but Google Adsense don’t tolerate hiding visibility of ads by color match, overlapping with images, tables, etc.

Keep track of your contents

Google Adsense doesn’t allow to put its ads on Non content pages and as well on several content pages having contents like: MP3, Video, News Groups, Image Results, hate-related, pornographic, or illegal content.

Avoid sending your ads through email

Google Adsense ToS do not allow placement of their ads in Html formatted emails. Don’t try to do this as they keep a close eye on this.

Avoid keyword stuffing and excessive advertising

Correctly placed Google Adsense ads, high traffic and focused contents will result in huge earning than any other program. So there’s no need of keyword stuffing or over advertising.

Use only supported Languages

Languages supported by Google Adsense includes;
Hungarian, Arabic, Bulgarian Italian, Chinese (simplified), Korean Croatian, Japanese, Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Czech, Dutch, Romanian, English, Russian, Finnish, Polish, Danish, Spanish, Greek, Swedish, Portuguese, Serbian, French, Slovak, German, Hebrew, Turkish.

In addition, Adsense for search is available in Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese. AdSense for content pages does not support these languages.

One Adsense account works for multiple sites

There is no need to create many accounts for many sites as one Google Adsense account may work for multiple websites. So if you have created multiple account with intension that if one account gets ban other will work for that web, the answer is a ‘NO’. Google Adsense keep track of all ads activities in real time statistics.

Maximum 2 referral button per product per page

Using Google Adsense Referral program, you can put only 2 Refferal buttons for Adword, Adsense, Google Pack and Firefox with Google Toolbar Referral.
