PTCL-Broadband-Logo

Now it’s not a news that PTCL have launched High speed internet services, I mean DSL service in Pakistan. Here I would like to share my experience regarding PTCL Broadband DSL Service that I subscribed a week ago. By the way it’s all about PTCL Broadband DSL Service in Faisalabad.

I submitted my application online on Saturday and got response from PTCL on Monday but because of load shedding I did not ask him to come and install as I wanted to test it in their presence. On the next day he (C.P.E.I) again called me and got him at my home. He brought a box (modem) with him. It’s Shiro ADSL 2+ Router up to 2Mbps.

Installation service was done within few minutes but the work that i did by myself is that i had to find out where is the direct copper phone line in my home :-D, as direct line has to be connected to the splitter included in the box. We have to give direct line to that filter, from filter there are 2 outlets, one for DSL and one for phone. If we try to connect without that splitter, DSL or Phone won’t be working. Outlet from DSL is connected to Shiro box. From Shiro Box, networking cable had to be plugged into Ethernet port of your PC.

After I was ready for the first shot of 512Kbps, *** Load shedding *** grrr!

After 2 Hours when the WAPDA lightened the City, I was excited to browse at 512Kbps and WuhoOooO! I got what I was expecting; 55-60 KB/sec. From that day, the connection has never let me down but the Load shedding.

New Attractive PTCL Broadband (DSL) Tariff

There are many service providers but why PTCL? Here comes the reason why I gave PTCL a Shot! As most of you know that PTCL has dropped it’s broadband rates up to 50%, means offering DOUBLE BAND in

the SAME PRICE and the most attractive is UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS. If someone is not aware of the current PTCL broadband (DSL) package here is an old and new tariffs’ comparison:

PTCL Broadband (DSL) Tariff

So PTCL is offering the most attractive broadband (DSL) package in Pakistan without any modem and installation charges. Further more there’s a special package for students, I came to know about after I had subscribed for 512kbps @ PKR.1200/- per month :-(, 30% discount to every package a student purchase. Here is a direct link to online web form from where students can apply for any of the packages available @30% discount.

PTCL Broadband (DSL)’s Upcoming Packages

I have heard about upcomming packages of PTCL Broadband internet Service withing next two or three months which include cutting-off Prices and DSL including IPTV (Intenet TV) with many channels. A great news for every user who doesn’t have media cable connection.

OK, if I sum up my discussion, I had read about bad quality service of PTCL but just because of its attractive packages, without any annual contract unlike other Broadband internet service provider: Wateen, I gave PTCL a shot and now I’m a happy user of it. I would recommend PTCL Broadband (DSL) because of its economical pricing, keeping students in mind and the most important: Quality of Service.

The only question that I have in my mind is;

Wether this service in Faisalabad would remain consistent or will let the users down just like Lahore.

Please share your experiences regarding PTCL Broadband and leave a comment so that new users before choosing the service provider may have an in depth analysis.
Thanks

    I applied for a PTCL landline today after being tormented by my worlcall wireless monthly package.As i live in a remote village i don’t have much choice in broadband but the guy from PTCL told me that they send a tech wid a LQT meter which will let us know the actually scenario.i think there is no problem with service if your landline is okay and if you have a faulty drop wire or your the ptcl cables are damaged then its very difficult to imagine a smooth problem free broadband! i can ask him to through me a good pair from my neighbours or someone else they will never know but it is on the condition that the line to our locality is “untouched” by the developing authority!
