Update: Yousuf Raza Gillani Elected New Prime Minister of Pakistan

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated Yousuf Raza Gillani for Prime Minister. Spokesperson PPP Farhatullah Babar read out the statement of Asif Ali Zardari, Co-Chairman of PPP, and announced the name of Yousuf Raza Gillani as the PM candidate.

After due consultations with coalition partners and democractic parties, candidate name was finalized by the PPP. said the statement

New prime minister will take oath of his office, under the 1973 Constitution, on Tuesday morning - March 25 - at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Musharraf will administer oath to the new Prime Minister, who, under the constitution has to obtain a vote of confidence from the National Assembly within a period of 60 days.
