Benazir Bhutto was born 21 June 1953 in Karachi, Pakistan. She was the eldest child of former premier of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. After completing her early education, Benazir left Pakistan in age of 16. She was educated at Harvard’s Radcliffe College in the United States and at the University of Oxford in England. In December 1976 she was elected president of Oxford Union, becoming the first Asian woman to head that famous debating society.

Benazir Bhutto wrote two books “Foreign Policy in Perspective” (1978) and her autobiography, “Daughter of the East” (1989). She received the Bruno Kreisky Award for Human Rights in 1988 and the Honorary Phi Beta Kappa Award from Radcliffe in 1989. She received many honourary degrees and awards from several countries.

On 18 December 1987 she married Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi. She had three children; Bilawal, Bakhtwar, and Aseefa.

She was the first women who became prime minister of a Muslim state in age of 35. Benazir was twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. She was elected on November 1988-1990 as Prime Minister and re-elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1993-1996. Benazir Bhutto lived in the UK and Dubai in exile, she returned to Pakistan in autumn 2007. In October 2007 , she was killed in a suicide attack.

Internationally, she was a controversial figure among feminists and democratic social activists. She was a brave and courageous lady. Ms Bhutto was one of the most powerful women in the world.
